#BFSlearns Personalized PD
I am thankful that we have the opportunity to choose our own Personalize Professional Development goals at Busan Foreign School.
For the 2017-2018 School year, I chose to focus on Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities - 4e Growing and Developing Professionally.
For my professional development goal this year, I chose:
Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities - 4e Growing and Developing Professionally Since yearbook class has less students than past years and occupies part of four periods most days, I have chosen to focus more on individual professional development goals rather than institutional development goals. My goals can be summarized as 3Cs: Connecting, Certification, Creating. For 'Connecting' my goal is to remain in the top 10% of all global Apple Distinguished Educators for our closed online collaboration community. This takes continual collaboration and sharing. For Certification, my goal is to earn at least three more technology skills certifications via Google, Apple and Flipped Learning Online Consortium, For Creating, I want to help students continually improve our digital publishing and yearbook publishing skills to improve students skills and help support our external marketing efforts.
Following are the parts of Danielson's Framework compiled by Sarah Miller:
- Domain 1: Planning and Preparation
- Domain 2: The Classroom Environment
- Domain 3: Instruction
- Domain 4: Professional Responsibility

Since yearbook class has less students and occupies part of four periods most days, I have chosen to focus more on individual professional development goals rather than institutional development goals. My hope is that next school year, I will be freed up more to focus on helping teachers and students with strategic tech application throughout the day. What would success on this goal look like? How will you know when you have achieved it? What would count as evidence of success?
-Flipped Learning Certification Level #1 - Modules completed, skills are applied at BFS, and certification is attempted
-Google Certified Educator Level 2 - Modules are completed and test is attempted
-Apple Distinguished Educator online collaboration - Our rank is updated each week, so this is easy to measure
-Apple Teacher - Badges are awarded instantly online after earning them.
-View Great Courses Photography by Joel Satore. - I will measure success by my ability to share knowledge during fourth quarter after the yearbook is submitted so that students can learn some advanced photography skills.
Describe the activities you will do to work toward your goal, and appropriate time lines.

Activity Time Line
I plan to: These activities will be completed by
1. Flipped Learning Certification Level # from Flippped Learning Global 1 - Yearbook is taking too much time as it occupies part of four periods most days. I want to learn some strategic ways to flip some elements without spending significant additional time at home creating videos, etc.

Google Certified Educator Level 2 - Go through modules and take test. Regardless of the results of the test, this will help me help others at BFS.

Apple Distinguished Educator online collaboration. I am currently ranked #76 in our Global online learning space. I want to remain in the top #100 throughout this school year.

Apple is requiring all future Apple Distinguished Educators to become an Apple Teacher in at least one of the three categories. I earned the badges for the Mac, but I want to earn the badges for iPad and Swift Playground as well. Earning all badges within a domain take roughly six hours if you do all exercises.

View Great Courses Photography by Joel Satore. The Yearbook Class was a surprise after I was hired. I am actually a novice at Photography. I purchased my nice camera a few weeks before joining BFS. I have never learned most of what other consider to be fundamentals for DSLR photography. I purchased a course from The Great Courses last month and will go through those modules.

What resources will you need to better achieve your goal?
• I will ask for PD money for the Flipped Learning modules. I believe it is $100
• Most of the support that I will need this year is understanding and communication with other staff members that I have only two periods per day when I am fully free. Thus some tech integration projects and tech support requests may take longer than they may hope.
• If I choose to begin making flipped videos, I may request that I can begin taking BFS tech home so that I can reduce the amount of wear and tear on my laptop and camera for BFS projects.
